From 5 to 12 October 2017, a Training-of-Trainers (ToT) programme was organised in the Netherlands for 15 Feed Inspectors and Supervisors. The aim of the visit was to help the participants to improve their know-how and skills related to advising and supervision of small scale cattle feed mill operations. The quality and safety of feed mill production practices were a key element of the ToT programme. By the end of the study visit the Feed Inspectors and Supervisors gained the know-how and skills to train colleagues and managers of small scale feed mills on improved production of concentrates in line with (a) the official feed quality and safety standards and (b) demands from smallholder cattle owners.
During the study visit, the Indonesian participants visited the following Dutch companies and organisations: Dairy farm V.O.F. van der Wijngaard, Trouw Nurtition Master Lab, Ottevanger Milling Engineers and Feed Design Lab.
The 10 days ToT programme was organised under the umbrella of the DIFS-Live programme. Input was provided by o.a. Wageningen Academy, Centre for Development and Innovation, RIKILT, Wageningen Livestock Research and Advance Consulting.
