Following the success with the introduction of making silage from maize on dairy farms in the dairy coop KPSP Saluyu Kuningan, a few demo farmers in Cikajang have started making silage from whole crop maize or maize stems from sweet corn in December. The project provided them with a chopper for chopping the maize and blue drums for conserving the maize. The ensiling of maize in blue drums guarantees  airtight sealing and low conservation losses despite the fact that only relative small quantities can be stored.  More info can be obtained from amin.sutiarto@trouwnutrition.com or bram.wouters@wur.nl
